Remembering childhood times

 
(Barry Gray (1908, Lancashire, England - 1984, Guernsey, Channel Islands) was a British musician and composer best known for his collaborations with television and film producer Gerry Anderson.

Born into a musical family, studied diligently and became a student at the Manchester Royal College of Music and at Blackburn Cathedral. He studied composition under the Hungarian born émigré composer Matyas Seiber.

In 1956 Gray joined Gerry Anderson's AP Films and scored its first marionette puppet television series, The Adventures of Twizzle. This was followed by Torchy The Battery Boy and Four Feather Falls, His association with Anderson lasted throughout the 1960s. Although best known for his score to Thunderbirds (in particular the "March of the Thunderbirds" title music), Gray's work also included the themes to all the other "Supermarionation" productions, including Fireball XL5, Stingray, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and Joe 90

Additionally, Gray is known as the composer for the Anderson live-action series of the 1970s, such as UFO and Space: 1999. His work in cinema included the scores to the Thunderbirds feature films Thunderbirds Are Go (1966) and Thunderbird 6 (1968), and the live-action science-fiction drama Doppelgänger (1969)).

(Tōru Takemitsu (武満 徹, 1930-1996) was a Japanese composer and writer on aesthetics and music theory. Largely self-taught, Takemitsu was admired for the subtle manipulation of instrumental and orchestral timbre. He is known for combining elements of oriental and occidental philosophy and for fusing sound with silence and tradition with innovation.
 
He composed several hundred independent works of music, scored more than ninety films and published twenty books.He was also a founding member of the Jikken Kōbō (Experimental Workshop) in Japan, a group of avant-garde artists who distanced themselves from academia and whose collaborative work is often regarded among the most influential of the 20th century.
 
His 1957 Requiem for string orchestra attracted international attention, led to several commissions from across the world and established his reputation as the leading 20th-century Japanese composer. He was the recipient of numerous awards and honours and the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award is named after him).

Beauty in infinite loops

(Stereolab are an Anglo-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990. Led by the songwriting team of Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier, the group's music combines influences from krautrock, lounge and 1960s pop music, often incorporating a repetitive motorik beat with heavy use of vintage electronic keyboards and female vocals sung in English and French. 

Their lyrics have political and philosophical themes influenced by the Surrealist and Situationist movements. On stage, they play in a more feedback-driven and guitar-oriented style. The band also draw from funk, jazz and Brazilian music, and were one of the first artists to be dubbed "post-rock". They are regarded among the most innovative and influential groups of the 1990s.

Other longtime members included 1992 addition Mary Hansen (backing vocals, keyboards and guitar), who sadly died in 2002 in a street accident, and 1993 addition Andy Ramsay (drums). The High Llamas' leader Sean O'Hagan (guitar and keyboards) was a member from 1993 to 1994 and continued appearing on later records for occasional guest appearances).

Silvania was an Ethereal/Shoegaze Duo formed in 1990 by Peruvian Musicians stated in Spain, consisted in Mario (guitar, computer, synth) and Cocó (voice, pianos, cellos, rhythms) that came to Spain end of the 80's (with Silverbelks - other name of band) and issued various discs somewhere in between South American music, ambient and the Jesus and Mary Chain. The band created a brand of Post-Punk Rock, influenced by My Bloody Valentine, Brian Eno and Cocteau Twins; later, the band left its guitars riffs for electronics, until the end of the band in 2009).

(Yuriy Gurzhy was born in Ukraine and now lives in Berlin. He is a musician, DJ, producer and radio broadcaster. Together with Wladimir Kaminer, a successful author in Germany, he started the now legendary dance events known as "Russendisko". A series of highly original compilations followed, introducing the rest of Europe to the likes of Leningrad, Markscheider Kunst, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Zdob Si Zdub and Distemper, not to mention Gurzhy's own band RotFront, who produced a reworking of the Kraftwerk classic "The Robots". Since 2006 he has included hits from the Shtetl Superstars in his setlist).

(Peter Thomas was a German composer and arranger, born 1st December 1925 in Breslau, Silesia (today Poland) and came a little later to Berlin, where he remained up to his beginnings as a film musician. He wrote a lots of soundtracks for movies and television series. His music oscillates between easy listening/lounge and electronic/space-age styles. The musician is abroadly well known as director of the incredible musical group The Peter Thomas Sound Orchestra. He died 17th May 2020 in Lugano, Switzerland).
