Sleeping on black flowers

(Dol Ikara is an american LA based goth/postrock band formed and leaded by Claire Roddy. Inspired by the divine feminine, gothic and antique imagery, dark fantasy and the fecundity of nature, Dol Ikara brings a timely theme to this day and age of gentle strength. Dol Ikara paints a soundscape evocative of several sources, from dark wave to gothic rock to post-rock. Various musical influences include Mazzy Star, Siouxsie, Cocteau Twins, Stevie Nicks, Sonic Youth, Cranes, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, etc.

Claire studied music at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and now studies literature in Los Angeles. A poet, as well, she is very driven by the beauty of phonetics in her composition of lyrics, which ultimately brought about the birth of her moniker for this project. Dol Ikara is therefore a neologism -- something simply phonetically beautiful, acting as a blank canvas in order to hold the innate essence of this project without any preconceived notions or associations).
