Since 2010, and after nearly 3,400 music posts, I have decided that the era of "Crazy Monkey's Brainmap" has come to an end. I currently have very little time to dedicate to this endeavor, and, truth be told, I have also lost interest in posting new material—content that can easily be found elsewhere.
I am grateful to everyone who has joined me over these past 16 years, sharing in my diverse musical interests and leaving messages of support and appreciation. My sole intention all these years was to share my personal tastes and provide other fans of unconventional music with access to this material.
This is not a final farewell, however; I will continue with my other blog, "The Flying Zoo." My focus there will be on sharing sounds that have been lost to time—recordings that are out of print or otherwise difficult to find. In the near future (I hope), I plan to shift toward a blog featuring compilations of various styles, all existing outside the commercial mainstream and dating back several decades. My work will thus be dedicated to the rescue and preservation of these forgotten gems.
I invite you to join me on this new adventure—which, while already underway, will soon take on a fresh direction.
All posts that remain active will serve as a memento of this adventure; I will not be re-uploading anything, so I imagine that as visits cease, this blog will eventually vanish from the web—though not from my own memories, and, I hope, not from yours either.
I invite you to take flight in the zoo of oddities.
